This post comes just before a post by another friend on my list, venting about how irked she is when people use social networking sites to post passive-aggressive messages. :-D
:-D I was concerned that some of the sensitive folks who read my blog might think, "Oh no: I haven't called or written to wlotus, and now she's mad at me! I need to apologize!"
And yes, it is very annoying when people use social networking sites to post passive-aggressive messages. I have done it, and that's something I try to avoid, now. I use far less energy being direct.
I suspect it does for a lot of people. I was writing about growing out of a habit I used to have, born from the belief that friendship was so hard for me to earn that I had to desperately cling to any shred of friendship I could find. Thank goodness my self-esteem and relationships are much healthier, now!
I'd go one further: "I prefer NOT to perpetuate the practice of maintaining relationships with people who continue to hurt me either openly or passively."
