I will be a registered independent before this week is out. The Democratic party has obviously lost its mind, preferring to back a man with no experience over a woman with a lot of experience...experience in areas that mean the world to me. Others may be fooled by pretty words, but I'm not, not when sexism runs so rampant that an unqualified man can get further than a qualified woman in the Democratic party. I refuse to let the party use me as one of its numbers any longer.
First the past eight years, and now this. I've all but given up on the political landscape in this country resembling anything that makes sense to me. I vote, not out of a naive belief that my vote makes a difference, but so that I can say I spoke my piece, even if the majority continues to ignore what I have to say.
This general election, my vote will be a write in for Senator Clinton for president.
The blatant sexism in the coverage and spin on this race makes me sick. As a woman, I am highly offended and feel betrayed. (Again and again and yet again...when will my homeland stop betraying me?!? How many more ways will my fellow Americans find to tell me what matters to me doesn't matter at all to any of them?!?) That overshadows any race-based excitement I might have otherwise felt.
If you need to register to vote, or if you need to change your party affiliation, you can use the following widget to do so.
