Strings On My Mind

Last night I dreamed I was playing cello. The instrument had a rich sound, and the strings felt smooth under my fingertips when I performed a skilled vibrato. I could even feel the coolness of the scroll as I leaned into it during a particularly moving part of the piece I was playing.

I have never played cello in my life.

I played violin as a kid for five years and all my dreams about it were about setting the thing on fire. I'm loving your violin posts - they express how i felt about starting the piano as an adult. Good for you!

The cello is a majestic instrument. Cool...smooth sounds. Pictures of you and your photographs that you take are majestic...and you, well you are very cool :-)

Aw, thank you. I was being a wise-ass, by the way. ;-)

The bass just barely nudges out the cello in my heart, at least as part of an orchestra. For solos, I have to say the cello is my favorite string instrument, even more than violin.

Well, okay, not quite more. But there's just something about a cello that no other string instrument does for me.
