Oh now this is awesome. Easily one of my favorites of your b&w photos.

I absolutely love this photograph. Wonderful.

Yesterday morning I was driving up the street and saw a young mother marching along with high steps, and her toddler was marching along behind her! How I wished I could have taken their picture! And, sadly, as the mother saw me looking at her, even though I smiled to indicate I was charmed, she slowed down and stopped marching.

All day I felt frustrated that I could never capture that magical moment that was now gone except in my mind, but this photograph, so much the same subject, has taken away my frustration.

Remember the book The Family of Man? The photographs of people around the world? One of my favorite sections was about mothers and children, and I remember the chapter title:

She is a tree of life to them.

Please do look for it; it was popular in the early sixties, but is available online--it's on Amazon. (http://www.amazon.com/Family-Man-Carl-Sandburg/dp/0870703412/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1217586759&sr=8-1)

The book came out of a photography exhibit. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Family_of_Man)

I think you will find it poignant and moving.
