Why A Write-In?
Feb. 17th, 2008 08:35 amSomeone privately asked me why I would rather write-in Senator Clinton than vote for my party's nominee, if it isn't her. That's a very good question, and I have a very good answer.
I would rather write-in Senator Clinton, because (besides being thoroughly impressed with her long history of social activism) over the past eight years I have gotten thoroughly tired of the two-party system and the stranglehold it has on national politics. I am tired of voting for whomever is placed before me, no matter what my common sense tells me. It's time I began acting for myself. My one little vote won't change anything on the national scale, but for myself, it will be a step in the right direction. Besides, color me jaded, but voting along party lines didn't help things one bit in the last presidential election.
By the way, if there was an Obama/Clinton ticket, I would vote for that ticket because of *her*, then still leave the Democratic party. I'm tired of accepting the party's sloppy seconds.
