The Cricket (Pocahontas, VA)

The Cricket used to be the local bar. The health inspector closed it down in 2006. There is no other bar in town.

What a cute name for a bar! That is the cutest name ever.

It is so sad about the town closing like it is...

The sad part is that the residents who remain are so stuck in inertia that they allowing the town to die. There are too many people hanging on to useless prejudices and misguided notions of what a town "should" be like. For example, the town council recently passed a resolution where your grass cannot be more than 4 inches high, or you will be fined. This place has much bigger problems than the height of people's lawns!

They need to find some way to bring tourists to the area, or the town will keep dying until nothing is left.
