The Eyes Have It

With glaucoma on both sides of my family, I do not like to miss my annual checkups. I missed last year, since I lost my insurance when I lost my full-time job. This month I had some extra money, so I followed my intuition when she gently nudged me to make an appointment.

To my relief, yesterday's exam turned up absolutely no problems, other than the fact that my corrective lenses are a bit too strong for my eyes. When I have the $470 I need to fashionably replace my current glasses, I will do it. For now, I'll continue to wear my current prescription.

Speaking of eyes, I got two more photography assignments for next week. As of last night, I only had one day, so I'm happy about this development. It was nice having only one day this week, but I might have gone stir crazy, if I had just as few days next week.

For the past four hours I have been dressed to go out and take care of some personal business. I have not been able to convince myself to go out in the cold and wet and wind to do it, though. Interestingly enough, I had no problem going out in it at 8 AM so T could observe me move the motorcycle for alternate side parking. Things that make me go hmmm...

glasses are so expensive, mine are glued together(nobody can tell) and I have a spare pair of frames but cannot afford to get the lenses put in right now.

That is a very striking photograph -- especially since most photographs focusing on a woman's eyes go for the sexy, exotic, come-hither angle. That photograph is of a woman who knows who she is and what she wants, and who you must take on her own terms or not at all.

Which I personally happen to find very sexy, but it's the attitude in those eyes that I love.

T needs to come up with $300 to replace the glasses she broke early this year. And that is with vision coverage. It's atrocious.

I have had really good results with ZenniOptical.com. It takes three weeks or so for the glasses to arrive, but $50 for a pair makes it worth the wait. I thought they'd be backup glasses, since I have a strong prescription with astigmatism, but they're as good as the expensive pair from the optician.

I was just going to point out places like Zenni Optical, but I see someone already did that :)

I don't know if they're ideal--I'm sure it's better to be fitted in person--but it's better than not having glasses. The main issue is getting an accurate measure of your pupillary distance.
