It's Ya Birthday!

CC partying like it's her birthday.

It really is her birthday, her 30th, to be exact. She invited me to the party and asked me to photograph the festivities. (In return, she will apply her certified loctician skills to my head, hallelujah!) It was my first time to a club in NYC and only the third time in my life I've been clubbing. I had a great time, thanks in large part to the earplugs and comfortable shoes I made sure to wear. :-)



We partied at The Vault, the more intimate space beneath Club Element. (Did I mention I am glad I wore earplugs????) The low ceilings allowed me to bounce the flash, rather than shooting with it straight on. Bouncing the flash resulted in much more natural lighting and softer shadows. (I'd been told one ought not bounce flash off non-white ceilings, but it worked just fine for me.)


Happy birthday to youuuuuu...

We started partying just before midnight. Not one to pass up a good dance beat--the DJ was killing those turntables!--I was up and dancing the entire time, in spite of being under the weather. By 2:15 my internal timer rang, so I packed it up and happily headed home. I may have a cold, and my feet may be a little achy, but I am happy with my work. The best 27 of the 57 shots I made are already on their way to the birthday lady.



Now I believe a nap is in order.
