Snow Day!

Before today, it had been seven years since I was on cross-country skis. Every so often I'd open the closet door, pat my skis, and promise them a run when we finally got a good snow. Today was the day!



After a test run around the small park across the street, I hoisted my skis onto my shoulder and hiked the half mile or so to Forest Park. Once in the park and on my skis, it was like riding a bike: it all came back after a few minutes. I fell a couple of times, but that didn't deter me. Besides, I had on a parka and ski pants, so there was no danger of me getting wet or cold in all the wrong places. Another skier passed me on the field and waved. Great minds and bodies think alike, it seems.

By the time I headed home, enough snow had accumulated that I skied all the way to the front door. Several people smiled and waved as I slid down the street. I'd like to go back out, but my wobbly legs are singing another song. Maybe tomorrow.

That's so awesome! What freakin fun that must have been! I'm envious!!!! You let the kid in you come out and play and that I think is the secret. Your picture of the Forest Park in Snow is so beautiful.
