Sometimes I wonder if men who prefer "their" women in dangerously high heels and platforms have secret (or not-so-secret) control issues. After all, a woman in shoes like that isn't likely to be able to outrun you when you're being a jerk.

I have a couple of friends who have used their stilettos as weapons, so there is a back up plan. ;)

Love me, love my practical, ass-kicking combat boots.

We saw this woman running for an elevator yesterday, and MAN she was hustling! I think she could have outrun me in my sneakers. How some folks do that, I'll never know. Me? I can't walk in heels at all.

That's certainly possible. However, as a lover of high heels, I have to add that I have several pairs that are very comfortable and a few I can run in if necessary. It's all about very careful shoe shopping. (Maybe having size 11 feet doesn't hurt, either.) Also, they make my calves look awesome. ;)

[But as I think you know, I wear hiking sandals or Chucks 98% of the time. ;)]

For some that may be true; the same could apply to dresses with extremely narrow or bulky hemlines, which restrict motion. I hate wearing something I couldn't fight in if I had to, even though my body is kind of a wreck. Only on rare occasions will I wear fussy garments, and my footwear HAS to be comfortable.

On the other hoof, some people probably just think those things look hot.

I think part of the "hot" factor is that if you know how to walk in them, they add a lot of ba-boom to the way your hips and ass move.

I rarely wear heels, but I will admit that a nice pair of spikes has its points. (Um ... sorry.) I don't currently own pump heels, but I have a pair of low boots with a 2" spike that are pretty righteous. IMO, the way to wear heels is to stride -- if the click of the heels doesn't sound mildly intimidating, I figure I'm doing it wrong. If you've ever read Terry Pratchett's Going Postal, I favor the Little Lucretia-type spike.
