Hey, [livejournal.com profile] leepak, remember when we talked about levels and curves yesterday? I found an online tutorial on levels and figured out it is the same as what Arcsoft Photostudio calls "Tone Adjustment". Look what levels can do for you. This is one of my koi photos as the camera recorded it:

After decreasing the highlight levels and increasing the shadow levels, this is the same photograph:

Amazing, isn't it? Look at the vibrant colors! And I didn't even touch unsharp mask or the saturation. Give me a call when you get a chance, and I'll walk you through doing it.

Oh wow that's actually a nice touch.

I would have done it just a little bit more to get the other fishes more visible.

I can do this on my own but I have one question. Did you use Curves or did you manually alter the shadows and highlights?

I manually altered the shadows and highlights using levels. I haven't found an equivalent to Curves in PhotoStudio.

Hey There Missy!

I've actually been experimenting with curves and levels in Lightroom and Photoshop! I've decided after getting home from our day that if I'm gonna get any better at this photography thing, it's time to stop talking about it and be about it! So, with that said, I've been fiddling around with it and posted some photos from our day at the Garden on flickr. Let me know what you think!
