I checked out the other violin closeups on Alamy.com, and none of them were composed quite like mine. Now I am waiting to see if my submission passes quality control.
When I looked very closely at this shot at 100%, I could see where I could benefit from higher-quality glass. My next lens will come from Canon's L-series (24-105mm f/4), which will greatly reduce the chromatic aberration, allow for finer tuning of the manual focus, and provide image stabilization. On the one hand, I am cringing at the idea of spending that much money on a lens. On the other hand, I know I need to make the investment, if I want my photography to go where I want it to go.
I was going to do the before/after for an old photo, like we talked about yesterday, but the photo I chose is not in focus, so it isn't worth the effort. It's fun to go back and find photos that I used to think were excellent and look at them with my more experienced eye. I see things now that I did not see, before!
Mine, too. It has inspired me to buy professional-grade glass (http://wlotus.livejournal.com/1192621.html?thread=5262509#t5262509), rather than continuing to use generic glass, too.
