wlotusAfter a highly productive week I declared my weekend started at 3PM and spent the rest of the day playing with photos. (I think I am going to devote my weekends to photography, as my financial services work takes up most of my weekdays.) I have scores of photos I have not properly processed; they are sitting in Lightroom without keywords, waiting for me to discover their greatness and share them with the world. :-) I posted a few of them yesterday. I also uploaded more photos to my profile on JPG Magazine, submitted photos to some of JPG's themes, and connected with several photographers there. Seeing their work inspires me to continue exploring my craft in my own way, just as they have done. There is an interesting mix of serious hobbyists, talented beginners, and formally trained photographers for me to learn from.
Earlier this week I entered two contests: The Art of Photography Show and Studio 414. In another few weeks I intend to keep a long-standing promise I made myself and enter the photography competition for the New York State Fair. I've been reviewing my work, and I now have enough confidence in it to enter contests. I can learn a lot from seeing what works for the other entrants, and perhaps I can develop my own style enough to add some honorable mentions or wins to my bio.![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
alois has quite the list of wins and honorable mentions in his biography. I admire his work, and seeing his list of achievements encouraged me to begin entering my work in contests, too. As the years go by, I would like to see my biography grow to include a similar list of accomplishments.
I've spent some time thinking about my photographic interests. People are on the top of that list, and that is probably evident from the photos I've posted over the past few days. :-) I like capturing people in their everyday lives, rather than in a studio. As I study others' work and see how they classify it, I suspect street and event photography are more my speed than formal portraiture. I am going to explore that idea more.
