This morning I took a long, hot shower. The weather is getting cooler, and one of the few good things about cool weather is hot showers and hot baths. (Another is fully gearing up for a motorcycle ride without wilting from the heat.) I took my time with lots of suds and came out squeaky clean from scalp to sole. Then I spent the next 90 minutes carefully grooming my locs. The result was feeling "together" for the first time in a couple of weeks. My hair feels like mine, again.

The result was also being relaxed enough to pass out for two hours. Ahem. I guess I needed a bit more sleep than I got, last night. But I was so happy to have had a productive day at work on Friday, I was too keyed up to fall asleep before 2:30 AM. I played lots of FarmTown and FarmVille, bought Berlioz' Symphony Fantastique, and enjoyed being the only one in the household awake. It's no surprise I crumpled into a snoring heap in the middle of the bed in the early afternoon!

When I awoke T and I installed her saddlebags on the bike. We had stumbled on a well-staffed motorcycle shoppe down in Princeton, WV, and he had some used saddlebags for $50. We couldn't resist, so the bags came home with us. (The bracket is coming in the mail; it will probably arrive next week.) Now we don't have to run the cover and chain upstairs every time we are ready to ride. The bags went on with little trouble, and we hit the road for a turn around town.

But not before a father and his two kids stopped us and asked if his son could sit on the bike and pose for a photo for him. The kid was cute, about 8, I think. "It's SO BIG!" the boy exclaimed as T picked him up and placed him in the driver's seat. He was grinning like he'd won the lottery.

Meanwhile his sister (about the same age) chatted with me. When I asked if she wanted to pose for a picture, too, she said, "No. I hate motorcycles." She eyed T in her leather jacket and asked, "Is that your husband?" I chuckled and told her no, that is my girlfriend. She wanted to know whose bike it was and whether I could drive it, and she listened attentively while I explained the difference between having a car license and a motorcycle permit. When she left with her dad and brother, I told her it had been nice talking to her.

When [livejournal.com profile] labyrinthnight gets back home, we are all going to relax in the living room with the Wolverine movie and some drinks. And I am going to edit photos from our vacation. That means photo posts in the near future. :-)
