Learning How to Mourn

My grandmother let me handle the business with the undertaker that hadn't been pre-arranged. I chose the date and time for the service (Wednesday at 11 AM) and picked the floral arrangement that will go atop the casket. Picking the flowers pleased me a great deal. There are purple orchids surrounded with white flowers. I hope to get a photo on Wednesday.

labyrinthnight and I are going to honor Aunt Mo's lifelong love of photography by bringing our digital SLRs. Her grave will be in NJ. I think I'll take a trip out there this summer or in autumn to see it.

Mourning the death of someone who was very special to me is new to me. I've been comforting myself by writing and doodling in my paper journal. The messages you all have sent have comforted me, too. I appreciate people taking the time.

Dear WL, my heart is grieving for you. There's no right or wrong way to mourn, but it's just plain hard. Trust yourself to know what you need and when. You're very wise and you will know.

Please know that a friend in Texas is holding you close in thought and prayer. Please be easy with yourself, OK?
