The more I make photos, and the more I see my personal style emerge from the collection of generic photography tips I continue to pick up here and there, the more I believe in my photographer's eye. This is exciting on a couple of levels. Of course there is the excitement of seeing how I'm growing out of a mere shutter-bug and into a photographer. But the main thing is the excitement of watching me learn to believe in my creative ability.

Decades ago, I did not think I was all that creative, at least not in ways that deserved my own respect. But now I am beginning to genuinely enjoy my unique view of the world, as captured through my photography. It makes me want to do more just for the joy of doing it.

I've finished sorting my 1400+ photos from the St. Patrick's Day Parade. I'm down to 120+. Now comes the editing and further sorting until I come up with a manageable online gallery of images. This is going to take a while, but it will be fun.

I love your St. Patrick's Day photos you've posted.

That's so cool you're gaining confidence in yourself and your art. Call yourself a photographer!

I'm experiencing similiar feelings about writing.

It's a wonderfully expansive feeling isn't it? :-)

That first child looks just like a young Rupert Grint/Ronald Weasley, from the first Harry Potter movie.

Your first photo in this piece is well into the category of awesome/stunning. This is the kind of thing I'd expect to see in print, or in a book of Irish-American modern history (or something along those lines).

That business of sorting photos, oi very, I have some sense of that pain! One of these days I'm going to give myself a few days off to finally get a more officially online gallery set up. Gah, not until the summer though...

Wanda these are incredible! The first photo is magnificent. Every element in the overall composition is meant to be in its place. The perfect shot, indeed. His eyes practically SLAY the portrait, capturing the essence of childhood youth.... Needless to say, I love it! So much so, I'm tempted to do a drawing interpretation of it, if you would allow me the honor. :)

These photos are beautiful. I love the little redheads!

(BTW, I can't recall if I've asked you this before, but do you use a digital camera, and if so, what kind?)

I use a digital SLR: the Canon EOS 5D. That is my Precious. Know the Precious. Love the Precious. :-)
