Thank goodness I feel nearly back to normal, today. I ran a low-grade fever yesterday evening, so I called out from my internship to give my body another day to heal herself. That was a good choice; after 9 hours of sleep I feel more human.

I'm strolling back home from walking T to the subway. (I missed that routine yesterday, but I was too sick to go out in that downpour.). The sounds and smells of my neighborhood after the rain refresh me and remind me how blessed I am to have built this life for myself. I'll pass through the supermarket to pick up some staples, then I'll settle in for a quiet day's work.

Working from home is a joy. There is nothing like being in your own space. I worked from home for almost a year on a childrens tv series. I found it easy to stick to my routine and I was very disciplined. What you end up with is plenty of time to get the things you need done.

I would go every morning around the corner to the cafe where my sister worked, often spending a few hours there as various friends and other freelancers turned up. Then I might go for na swim, then by 3 I was at my desk and I would draw until 11 pm, taking a break for dinner.

So far I have to agree with you. I usually start my day by rising with T and walking her to the subway. It wakes me up and gets my blood moving. It also insures I get out of the house at least once during the day, so I don't feel utterly stir crazy. :-) When I come back I have the apartment to myself, so I can turn on the stereo and work uninterrupted. I experimented with a 30-minute lunch break, but an hour works best for me. At the end of that time my eyes are well rested and my brain is ready to focus, again. Then I'm usually finishing my work just as T is coming through the door at the end of her day.
