The book "Die Broke" is a financial book that is based upon similar principles... Taking care of yourself and your family now instead of worrying about a glorious, free, financial future (i.e., retirement) that may never come to be.

I haven't yet read it, but my dad's had it on his bookshelf for a couple years, at least:
